A Little History
It all began in 1988 with a small group of people from Yucaipa, Redlands, and Mentone with a lofty goal - to protect and preserve the beauty and natural open space of the Crafton Hills.
Our message spread, and by 1992 the small group grew. The organization elected a Board of Directors, and registered as a non-profit, tax exempt organization. The membership continues to grow. Civic organizations and public entities including the County of San Bernardino, City of Yucaipa, and City of Redlands signed on as well, and the Crafton Hills Open Space Conservancy (CHOSC) became a reality.
Our Goals
CHOSC strives to protect in perpetuity the natural environment of the area for its significant watershed, ecological and aesthetic values, and other benefits to the public interest. Since 1992, CHOSC has preserved more than two thirds of the 4500 acres through acquisition and cooperative management with San Bernardino County, Crafton Hills College, and the Cities of Redlands and Yucaipa.

Scroll Down - Let's Take A Look
Let's take a look at what could happen if we don't protect these hills. The pictures below were taken off the 91 Freeway in Corona. Those hills used to look very much like the Crafton Hills. Look at them now. Some people have suggested that the Crafton Hills are too steep to develop - Those people need to see these pictures.
